Frantoio Pistelli represents the excellence of Umbrian olive growing, combining an authentic family history with a modern and sustainable vision. Today, the company is led by Silvia Pistelli, the third generation of the family. Armed with a degree in Communication Sciences and a Master’s degree in olive growing, she has successfully blended agricultural tradition with the most innovative management and promotion strategies.
It all began with Silvia’s grandfather, an enthusiast who—fascinated by some old abandoned millstones found along the road between Terni and Rieti—decided to bring them to the farm to start producing oil for friends and family. That spark became a mission for Silvia’s father, Enzo, an agriculture graduate who transformed the business into a modern oil mill, focusing entirely on quality and technological progress.
The name chosen for the company’s oil, Concalma, embodies the very essence of production: on one hand, calma (calmness), necessary in the rhythms of agriculture to face nature’s unforeseen events with serenity; on the other, the soul of the Conca, a tribute to Terni—historically known as “la conca” (the basin)—combined with the word Alma (soul).
The estate extends over approximately 40 hectares of olive groves located in prestigious areas between Terni and San Gemini, in the localities of Cesi, Valle Antica, and Strada di Pietrara. Pioneers in the sector, the Pistelli family has believed in organic farming since 1997, obtaining a certification that today covers the entire farm area. Production is focused on the typical cultivars of the territory, with a clear dominance (80%) of Moraiolo, alongside varieties such as Frantoio and Leccino. The flagship products are the DOP Umbria – Colli Assisi Spoleto extra virgin olive oil, the DOP Colli Amerini, and the 100% Italian Moraiolo single-varietal (monocultivar), which best expresses the character of the Umbrian land.
The production process takes place in the farm’s own oil mill, recently modernized thanks to PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) funds with the installation of cutting-edge technology, such as knife crushers and state-of-the-art malaxers to improve oxidative stability and extraction. The olives are hand-harvested and cold-pressed within 24 hours, ensuring a product of the highest quality.
Frantoio Pistelli is not just about production, but also a place of sharing. Guests at the farm stay (agriturismo) can stay in independent apartments and receive a complimentary bottle of oil upon arrival as a welcome gift to taste during their stay. As an Educational Farm (Fattoria Didattica), the company organizes educational activities for schools and guided tours during the month of November, allowing children to take part in the harvest and see the entire processing cycle up close. Finally, their passion for the olive tree extends to a line of Bio-Eco cosmetics for body care made from extra virgin olive oil.
