AMELIA – AGITURISMO FRANTOIO SUATONI
Frantoio Suatoni in Amelia produces a high-quality extra virgin olive oil, cold-extracted from various olive varieties (Frantoio, Pendolino, Leccino, Moraiolo, and Rajo). The olives are harvested from 6,000 olive trees grown using organic farming practices since 1996 in the Amelia area. Suatoni was among the pioneers in producing organic EVOO. The olives are still strictly hand-harvested and milled using an innovative continuous-cycle, cold-extraction system.
Founded by Franco in 1949, Frantoio Suatoni is currently run by Francesco, who manages agronomy and production, and Giuditta—an interpreter turned passionate farmer—who oversees the foreign market, selling not just oil, but experiences and the local territory. The company continuously invests in innovation and is currently planting a new olive grove of an ancient indigenous cultivar, the Goggia, rediscovered a few years ago by the CNR (National Research Council) of Perugia.
The estate’s flagship products are the DOP Umbria EVOO and a truly unique, rare monovarietal oil crafted from the olives of an ancient, multi-centennial grove of Rajo, a native variety typical of the area.
Adjacent to the olive mill is an agritourism estate where, alongside accommodations, visitors can enjoy immersive experiences discovering the world and traditions of olive oil making: mill tours, walks through centuries-old groves, guided tasting workshops, and fun educational activities centered around olive oil for children.
A special feature: Suatoni offers a line of Organic Cosmetics made with certified organic EVOO. Additionally, during the holidays, they collaborate with artisan pastry chefs to create traditional holiday treats, such as the Colomba cake, made with Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
