What would traditions be if there weren’t the people capable of handing themdown, or renewing them to make them more modern? They simply wouldn’t exist, and we would be left without stories to tell. Like that of the Bartolomei family who has been working since the 14th century to produce and improve extra virgin olive oil in Montecchio, a Dop Umbria product from the Orvieto Hills. They even created their own theme museum, featuring a collection of old machinery and antique tools, in addition to historic illustrations and photographs related to olive farming. Handing down traditions not to be forgotten and rediscovering lost ones. After all, if not them, who could?
